We bought this router so that we could hook up the new Xbox 360 and our computer to the same modem. We haven't had any problems in the few weeks that we've owned it. Nice, easy, and a great price, so we're delighted.
I found the product to live up to my expectations. I have not tried anything more complicated. It was easy to install and it has acted reliably. I am using the router to sign in to my desk top and my lap top. It is providing what I need at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this product.
I have a small home network. I've tested the following functions also worked very well:ddnsntpstatic routingHowever, this router hung twice in the first week. recovered by power cycle. A small server running RADIUS/HTTPs/DHCP etc so I consider myself as a very technical person.Purchased this router for a simple function: port forwarding on UDP 4500. but giving other device on the LAN could reach each other, I would think the problem is on this router.so overall, it's a small device and extremely easy to setup. since my firewall is also a VPN concentrator, any UDP 4500 traffic couldn't be forwarded to an internal device (firewall intercept the packet instead of forwarding it). Have 2 commercial grade boxes that do firewall and wireless. It simply stop forwarding traffic and became unreachable.
this router worked as expected(however, you could only configure port forward to the directly connected LAN subnet. if you have other subnets, it wouldn't work). Unfortunately I didn't have chance to do much troubleshooting like packet capture or check ARP entry. however, it just doesn't work for me.
I bought the TW100-S4W1CA to replace a failed SMC-EZ6505TX router. Re-loaded the router again. Also, I was told to keep the Cable Modem and TW100-S4W1CA powered on all the time. I saved the configuration per the instructions, it then recycled the connection, and I was online. I bought a Linksys EZXS55W since I read the SMC-EZ6505TX router is prone to a short life and ate the cost of the TW100-S4W1CA. Later on, I put the PC in sleep mode and when I woke it up, I could not access the internet. It arrived quickly and had a quick and easy install via a web-based application. Opened a Tech Support ticket and was told to upgrade the firmware from V.100 dated Tue Jan 08 12:27:22 2008 to V.100B12 dated Tue Jan 08 12:27:22 2008.
I went through the setup again and got online. Later, I rebooted and had no internet connection. It still loses the setup and has to be re-configured. I'm no guru, but I never had a problem like this with the SMC-EZ6505TX router.
The 360 plays fine online and the computers experience no lag while all are using the internet. I didn't like idea of putting our internet signal into the air even though there are ways of securing it. This is my first time using a router. Everything hooked up fine. So we got a wired router. One is going to my computer, another computer bridged with a 75' cable and an xbox360 also bridged with a 75' cable. A cat 5 cable connects to the router from the modem and you just throw another cat 5 to the router and connect it to whatever PC or gaming console needs it. A wired router is much more convenient than having to reset the router every time you change the connection from PC to xbox360.
